Review: There seemed to be some confusion in the various reviews I read before seeing Identity as to whether this was a thriller or a horror movie. Having seen the movie I now understand why, it really is hard to classify, and it really falls somewhere between the two genres. It was frightening, yet there is definitely more to it than that. I can’t really discuss the intelligence of the film without giving away its ending. The ending was another thing there were varied reports about, some were saying it was a surprising twist, while others said it was obvious. I found it surprising and also unique. Even though I watched it trying to figure out what the twist was going to be, the filmmakers managed to throw so many misleading clues that it was impossible to.

I thought John Cusack gave a good performance, stepping away from his usual romantic comedy roles. All of the characters in this movie were really different, from Amanda Peet playing a hooker trying to get out of the business to Ray Liotta playing an angry cop. However sometimes characters got annoying, they were all a bit too over-the-top.

I would recommend waiting for Identity to come out on video. It wasn’t really worth the astronomical $10 movie theaters are now charging.
